1st Certified NWF Wildlife Habitat in Parade of Homes

Visit the first NWF Certified Wildlife Habitat to be in Brevard County's Parade of Homes.

In conjunction with the Green Showcase home which is appearing in this Fall's Parade of Homes, we will also be showing off NWF Certified Wildlife Habitat #110,800.

A requirement for creating a Green Home is to provide a landscape which is friendly to wildlife. Ivan, of Sue's Exterior Design, has created a wonderful landscape full of wildlife-friendly Florida Native and Florida waterwise plants. Many of these plants provide fruit and seeds which are natural food sources for local birds. The landscape also incorporates several large trees and shrubbery which will provide shelter and nesting areas.

Visit the home during the Parade of Homes and pick up materials to help you create your own Certified Wildlife Habitat.

Many builders are taking the initiative to learn the principles of green building to create more environmentally sensitive homes. Holiday Builders is going a step further.

They built the home primarily to learn, first hand, the techniques and methods required for the various Green Building programs. They decided to use the opportunity that the Parade of Homes presented to help share what they have learned.

Since it's inception, Project Backyard Brevard has been anxious to work with local builders to help educate and encourage their customers to Take Care of Their Share of the environment. We are proud to be working with Holiday Builders on this worthwhile, educational project.

The firebushes already seem to be a neighborhood favorite.

    Live Oak
    Firebush
    Simpson Stopper
    Fiddlewood
    Plumbago
    Fakahatchee Grass
